Roughly 60 kilometres down from the Capital Colombo lies the beach of Bentota. Whilst it doesn't have the crystal clear waters of places north like Trincomalee or The Andaman Islands you'll be faced with some unpunctuated coastlines. The stretch of sand is home to turtle hatcheries and a fort left from Portuguese invaders from the start of the 16th century.
