Pier 45 at Hudson River Park
This memorial honoring the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando was just recently installed near the Christopher Street piers, a very active cruising area in decades past and now a leading congregation spot for LGBT youth. The pier tends to be packed in the summer with sunbathers, readers, picnickers and such.
I must say I find the artistic merit of the Orlando monument somewhat questionable but it’s still moving and many times better than the more famous but utterly hideous “Gay Liberation” statue near Stonewall.
