Sylvia Woods was a waitress at a restaurant called Johnson’s Luncheonette in the 1960s. When the restaurant went out of business, she purchased it and transformed it into the Sylvia’s that’s now an NYC institution. No easy feat for a woman in the 1960s. #womenshistory #womenofnyc #sylvias
