Just a short drive (or a 30 min bus ride) from Sofia, you'll find Bistritsa. This is a small town where Sofia locals go to relax on the weekend. Bistritsa is really wonderful for walking and hiking. Walk down past the town square and continue straight. Soon, you'll see a dirt road that separates into two paths. Head right (on the left, you're likely to run into huge dogs with no leesh). Feel free to wander around. The road takes many twists and turns so you'll have to make lots of decisions. At the end, you'll pretty much end up at the monastery and taking a right turn will be on your way back to Bistritsa's town center. I love this spot because it's quiet, clean, fresh, and makes for wonderful photos. You can come sledding here in the winter! #hike #views #free
