Žižkov Television Tower
Once ranked as the ugliest structure in the world by Virtualtourist, Žižkov TV Tower is as eye catching as it is bizarre. A one bedroom hotel is located at the top after ascending past giant, model babies made of bronze, crawling up and down the trunk of the tower. The well-known sculptor David Černy can only be responsible for such remarkable displays, hence making his mark with some other exhibits, equally as vivid and queer around town. Amidst the red roofs of Prague in the district of Žižkov the 216 metre structure towers over the old Jewish cemetery, previously subject to much resistance. Since its completion in 1992 the tower has undergone various transformations. These have included illumination displays on the tower's pods, a popular cocktail bar cum restaurant called Oblaca and of course the one room suite starting at crippling 500 euros per night. #free #architecture
