Bukovec
Jizerka runs parallel to the Jizerka River just a stones throw from the Polish border. It is ranked as being the coldest place in the Czech Republic during winter and draws cross country skiing enthusiasts from as far as south as Prague. I experienced this very sport for the first time last freeze and couldn't wait to see it in a lush green come Spring. Like with most houses here, they were transformed into pubs and hostels after WW2, before tourism thrived. Overlooking the town you can see Bucovec Hill, which is comprised of basalt, and is the largest of its kind on the European Continent. Given its rich minerals it has an abundance of rich flora setting it apart from the surrounding topography. #views #mountains
