Al Riyam Park is home to one of Muscat’s more unusual attractions...the giant incense burner! It can be accessed via a staircase in the rock and gives great views of Mutrah and it’s corniche! It isn’t actually know why there is a large incense burner in the park but perhaps it is a nod to Muscat’s past as an important shipping port for trade with the Indian Ocean and East Africa. Al-Riyam park itself is a great place to relax and spend a few hours in the afternoon if you’re feeling weary from exploring. #statue #architecture #free
