If you had happened to hear anyone mention Palm Springs a couple of decades ago, the first thoughts to come mind would probably have been pastel colors, cocktails, faded movie stars and ex-presidents playing golf and waiting out their final days and “one hit wonder” 70s bands playing in the casinos. And yeah, there is still some of that... But Palm Springs and the surrounding area is chock full of superb outdoor activities (swimming, biking, hiking), a creative community of artists, some marvelous historical sights and to top it off, is one of the most GLBT friendly places in the entire country. So grab a date shake and start exploring, just know that you will definitely need a set of wheels, public transportation options are meager at best.
